Email Contact List (Snail Mail List Follows Below; Please Scroll Down)

Since it is important to have decision makers become aware of the concerns of the public, we have provided you with this contact list.

Below are listed the names and email addresses or internet link of individuals who play significant roles in terms of decision making regarding the Biomass Proposal. The members of the TRPA Governing Board shall decide to approve or disapprove the project, unless Placer County's Board of Supervisors decides to halt the project unilaterally. The list is not exhaustive and will be modified from time to time.

With the exception of U.S. Senator Feinstein, U.S. Senator Boxer, California State Senator Ted Gaines, Congressman McClintock, and the members of Placer County's Board of Supervisors, who are elected, the others are all appointed.

The first listed are those sit on the TRPA Board. Following that group are the members of the Commission who advise that Board. Following that group, you have the elected members of Placer's Board. Then comes U.S. Senator Feinstein, U.S. Senator Boxer, and Congressman McClintock. Lastly, are email addresses of key members of the biomass project planning staff.

Remember it is your email being sent and you will have the opportunity to edit the list of people or add additional comments to the message being sent before you press the send button.

If your email program is Outlook, the email message should configure automatically for you to be able to send. If your email program is gmail or something else, other than Outlook, it will configure the message consistent with your email program. As part of that configuration, it may ask you your email password. This is done to allow your computer to send out the message from your email account under your name and email address. The password stays in your computer; it does not come to us and is therefore not stored anywhere. Friends of Lake Tahoe does NOT collect your password in any way shape or form.

LASTLY, PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT DUE TO AN ENDLESS COMBINATION OF DIFFERENT INTERNET PROVIDERS, EMAIL PROGRAMS, OPERATING SYSTEMS, ANTIVIRUS AND ANTISPAM PROGRAMS, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ENSURE THAT THE CONFIGURATIONS WILL HAPPEN AUTOMATICALLY WITH ALL COMPUTERS. FOR SOME OF YOU READING THIS, IF IT DOESN'T AUTOMATICALLY CONFIGURE AND SEND THEN YOU WILL NEED TO DO IT MANUALLY - AND SIMPLY WITH YOUR CURSOR HIGHLIGHT, COPY, AND THEN PASTE THE RECIPIENT LIST AND THE MESSAGE INTO YOUR OWN EMAIL. FOR MOST OF YOU, HOWEVEFR, THE SYSTEM PROVIDED HERE FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE SHOULD WORK WELL. AND, ONE MORE TIME, THANK YOU!

U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein:

Senator Feinstein is, without question, one of the most significant politicians regarding the protection and preservation of the Lake Tahoe Basin. She works hard to promote funding of forest fuel reduction programs to reduce the danger of wildfires. She is equally concerned about the environmental impact of open burning. And, we applaud these efforts.

Communications with her Office and her Field Representative, Gina Banks, however, have resulted in the conclusion that they falsely see, as do others, a connection between having a biomass energy plant in the Basin and the subsequent reduction of forest fuels, wildfires, and open burning when there is no connection. It is important, therefore, that her office be informed of your concern about this confusion and your opposition to the proposed facility. Friends of Lake Tahoe is currently endeavoring to talk with her and her staff about the biomass project.

It is particularly important that she be advised by you of the Cabin Creek alternative location as being the best location for such a plant!

Unfortunately, unlike the other listed contacts who have email addresses, you'll need to send your message to the Senator directly through her website.

You can contact the Senator at: Her Website

You can contact her Field Representative via the Snail Mail List at the bottom of this page (Scroll Down).

U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer:

Senator Boxer, along with her colleague, Senator Feinstein, is very instrumental regarding Tahoe policies and has joined Feinstein in support of the very important Lake Tahoe Restoration Act of 2011. Additionally, she has a State Deputy Director, Stacey Smith, posted to Sacramento.

In your communications with Senator Boxer and Stacey Smith, it is particularly important that she be advised by you of the Cabin Creek alternative location as being the best location for such a plant!

You can contact the Senator at: Her Website

You can contact Stacey Smith at: stacey_smith@boxer.senate.gov.   It has already been programmed into the pre-populated email recipient list.

Congressman Tom McClintock, 4th District:

Congressman McClintock represents Lake Tahoe and is particularly concerned about recapturing earmark funding that could represent wasteful spending. We believe the biomass project, if Kings Beach remains the planned location, fits that category of funding. Additionally, Congressman McClintock is aware that Lake Tahoe is one of the few congressionally designated ONRW (Outstanding Natural Resource Water) in the United States.

You can contact the Congressman at: His Website

Surface / Hard Copy / Snail Mail Letters:

For those of you so inclined, and we hope that many of you are, it would be helpful if you write and mail letters to the individuals listed below. The reasons are as follows:

Often Hard Copy Letters to Senators and Members of the House of Representatives carry a more "personal" sense to them. Hence you have the addresses below of US Senators Feinstein and Boxer.

More importantly, the members of Placer County's Board of Supervisors cannot be reached directly by email. The emails on the automatic list go to their top assistants since the Supervisors do not list any email addresses. And, while it is believed that their assistants notify them of your email communications, there is no guarantee of that. A personal letter, consequently, ensures that they hear from you, and in a more powerful way. Their names and addresses are listed for you.

Additionally, it would be helpful if you sent letters of concern to the three other "planning" individuals listed after the members of Placer County's Board of Supervisors. They are the individuals most directly involved in the oversight of the drafting of the EIS/EIR which we want, of course, to identify Cabin Creek as the "Preferred Location" instead of Kings Beach. Our home page's "Case for Cabin Creek" explains why the Cabin Creek site is the best site for everyone concerned.
